The goal of California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) Grant Program is to prevent serious injury and death resulting from motor vehicle crashes so that all roadway users arrive at their destination safely. Using Federal Highway Safety Program funds, the OTS partners with political subdivisions of the state to address California's highway safety needs at the state, county and local level.

Additional funding is available as a "General Grant" for those entities seeking funding to address traffic safety problems other than those listed above.

CA OTS grants reimburse for expenditures from an agency's own resources to fund the project described in the Contract. The applicant must actually spend funds in accordance with the terms outlined in the Contract before submitting a claim for reimbursement.
Eligible applicants are California state and local government entities. 501(c)3 organizations must apply as sub-recipients.
Applications must be submitted by January 31, annually.
Individual award amounts vary. Project periods will extend 12-months, starting October 1, annually.
